Reiki Level I is really about learning how to heal yourself.
While this course can serve as a first step on the path to Reiki Master Level, most people complete Reiki I and go no further. Not everyone will be called to teach Reiki, but many people see the benefit in learning how to self-heal.
Because Reiki treats the whole person - mind, body, and soul - I say that Reiki I is a great fit for any person who feels called to this healing modality. Through practicing Reiki, a person can uncover their most radiant self. Whether you are a teacher, firefighter, project manager, hairstylist, etc., Reiki can help you calm your nervous system, heal old wounds, find happiness in relationships, and align you to a timeline of ease.
Develop a grounding and protection practice.
Reiki can be considered a measure in preventative care, as well as a modality that can work alongside healing care. In this course you will develop a grounding and protection practice which will help stabilize your energy as well as keep it healthy throughout the day.
Learn about your body’s biofield and how it relates to your physical body.
In the Level I course you will learn the basics of the human biofield, which includes a thorough breakdown of the seven major chakras (English translation = wheel). Each of these energy centers correlates to a series of psychological issues as well as a physiological component. Carolyn Myss says, “Our biography is our biology,” meaning every experience that happens to us is recorded in our bodies. There is further research in the field of neuroscience on this idea through works like The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk. We discuss this in Reiki I so you can identify and remove energy concerns.
Our health (or lack thereof) does not happen in isolation.
Interdependence is a key component of the Reiki healing lineage. When learning about the energetic body, we find that the impacts on our health come from our relationships to our family, community, and society at large. We can uncover the limiting beliefs that have been woven into our body-minds and start to heal them on multiple levels. This course dives into topics of intersectionality and seeks to use Reiki as a modality to help unlearn harmful patterns. Eventually, if one pursues the Level II training, we begin to dive into how Reiki can help heal situations and systems. However, healing at the individual level still impacts our communities and collectives at large.
Reiki has no contraindications, helps connect you to your intuition, and can be used anywhere.
As of this writing, Reiki is not known to have any contraindications and is safe to use with any other healing modality. Many hospitals have Reiki programs and offer this service to their patients — it’s actually one of the ways I first gained experience after completing my initial set of trainings. Additionally, the use of Reiki will help open you up to your own intuition and ability to receive messages from beyond your conscious mind. In the Level I class there will be exercises which aim to retrain your brain to prioritize these messages and hear them much sooner.
And so much more.
Each training also includes the history of Reiki, The Reiki Precepts, The Reiki Ethic, practice protocols, and hand placements. I also present information about the latest research in Reiki, neuroscience, somatic healing, and their intersections. Every person who attends also brings their full history of experience and I am always excited for students to share what they know and have learned to help round out our educational experience. We co-create the space together and in doing so the content is robust and highly personalized.
